Saurabh said that as the government extended the lockdown till May 3, the Indian Premier League has also been postponed for the time being. In view of the increasing lockdown and the current situation of the country, now the BCCI has very few options for holding the IPL. In such a situation, with the lockdown increasing, this was the last way left with the board.
According to the report, if the IPL is not organized, then the tournament may lose between 5,000 and 7, 500 crore. All the veterans gave various suggestions regarding the conduct of IPL. Someone said to shorten the IPL. Someone suggested IPL only for Indian players.
Earlier, the BCCI had suspended the IPL till April 15, in the hope that if the conditions improve then the tournament can be organized by looking at a suitable window. But all these possibilities were eliminated as the lockdown progressed to 3 May.
